3.8A summarize a data set with multiple categories using a frequency table, dot plot, pictograph, or bar graph with scaled intervals

3.8B solve one- and two-step problems using categorical data represented with a frequency table, dot plot, pictograph, or bar graph with scaled intervals

Math Homework:
Homework was past out today and is due Thursday, December 17. There will be no homework over the Christmas break.
There will be no Mad Minute this week. However, we do encourage students to study their multiplication facts.

Science Learning Goals: Continue Scientist Project

3.3C – connect grade-level appropriate science concepts with the history of science, science careers, and contributions of scientists.

December 7 – 11

Math Learning Goals: 2-digit by 1-digit Multiplication and Fact Families
3.4J(S)- determine a quotient using the relationship between multiplication and division

3.4 G – use strategies and algorithms, including the standard algorithm, to multiply a 2-digit by a one-digit number. Strategies may include mental math; partial products, and the commutative, associative and distributive properties.

Math Homework:
Math homework is sent home on Fridays and is due back the following Thursday. Math homework will be due on Thursday, December 10.
Please study your MULTIPLICATION FACTS. 0’s, 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 4’s and 6’s only. We will have a Mad Minute on Thursday. Students will have one minute to solve 30 multiplication facts. This is not for a grade. We will set goals each week to improve fact fluency.

Science Learning Goals: Scientists Research Project
3.3C – connect grade-level appropriate science concepts with the history of science, science careers, and contributions of scientists.

Penny Christmas

2020 3rd Grade

Christmas Party

Dear Third Grade Families,

It is time to start preparing for our 3rd Grade Christmas parties! Our parties take place on December 18th, which is an early release day. Our classes will still have a fun party but this year it will only be for the class and teacher. We won’t be able to have families come to this party.

Even though our parties will look very different this year, we will still celebrate these parties with a “Penny Christmas”. Third grade concentrates on the value of sharing memories with each other, not spending lots of money on a gift. With this in mind, students will share very inexpensive gifts with each other. Students are welcome to bring these gifts starting Monday, December 14. Each child will have a bag in their homeroom, made at school. In the past, some items bought for Penny Christmas have been: individually wrapped candy canes, pencils, stickers, erasers, bouncy balls, play-doh, etc. Each student will need to bring enough items for each student in their homeroom. There are 18 students in your child’s homeroom.

Thank you so much and Happy Holidays,

Third Grade Teachers:

Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Fouse, Mrs. Pullen,

Mrs. Hamrick, Mrs. Tatum and Mrs. Williams

Christmas Party info

The note below was sent home with every intermediate student. We will be adhering to the protocols put in place at the beginning of this school year due to the corona pandemic. NO OUTSIDE food, treats, snacks, etc. will be taken. No outside visitors will be allowed. Rest assured that students will have a great day of celebrating with food and games.

This is also an early release day. Students will dismiss at 11:30. We will not be checking students out any earlier than 11:30 as “all hands on deck” will be helping with student parties.
