Labor Day – Monday, September 6th

School will be closed Monday, September 6th. Enjoy the time with your families celebrating Labor Day. Talk to your children about Labor Day and what it means.

Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday in September. It’s a day dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday credits the contributions of the working class to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Labor Day became an official national holiday in 1894. This holiday is usually celebrated with summer activities. Elementary teachers use this holiday to introduce the concept of Community Helpers to small children. Everyone plays a role or works a job that supports their community.

What role do you play in your community?
